Harvesting cabbage on the farm

We are gearing up for our 2013 growing season and are expanding our worker share CSA program this year. We always love working with these very special CSA members and sharing our vision for sustainable farming and land stewardship. Our worker-share volunteers gain a better understanding of how their food is produced, and get in a great work-out at the same time. We are only an hour away from Atlanta and it’s a great way to get out and enjoy the beautiful outdoors.

Being a worker-share volunteer means that you will come to Wolfscratch Farm to learn and work on the farm for 4-6 hours per week, and you will get a weekly CSA half-share to take home at the end of each shift. This is a great way to be a part of the growing experience, learn more about the food you eat, and pick your own food for the week. Although all of our worker-shares have fun, farm work can be very physical and we work in most weather conditions – hot sun, cold rain, and everything in between. We rely on our worker-share volunteers to help complete important tasks, like planting, hand-weeding, harvesting, and maintaining soil composition, throughout our growing season. If you are interested in joining us, please fill out this form.

We will have worker-share orientation throughout the spring, and all new worker-shares must show up for one day of orientation. Orientation includes a farm tour, an introduction to farm duties/rules/plans, as well as a time to share stories and ask questions.

We are also looking to barter some of our produce for carpentry/handy-man work, animal husbandry and/or veterinary care, and social media and networking support. If you have any of these skills, and are interested in trading services for our produce, please let us know.

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about our worker-share program or want to join us for the upcoming growing season. You can leave a comment here or contact us at wolfscratchfarm@gmail.com

Want to be more involved? Contact us about a potential internship program as well.

Awesome, rainy, muddy afternoon at Wolfscratch Farms to complete my CSA worker share orientation with Jamie and Corey. Another worker, Bill, was also there; and together, we learned to and harvested a couple of rows of broccoli after touring the whole operation. I also learned to harvest salad greens and practiced enough to make a couple of bags for Bill and me. We each walked away with a beautiful kohlrabi for efforts that hardly resembled work at all. I found Jamie and Corey to be edu-taining, and I can’t wait to put in my time and reap the benefits! Thanks, Guys!
